Annual 17 May Memorial Service and Wreath Laying

A Memorial Service and wreath laying will take place at the Shetland Bus Memorial on Wednesday 17 May 2017 at 3.00 pm. Teas and Norwegian/Shetland homebakes in the Museum after the Service. £3 for teas with separate fee for entry to the Museum. All welcome.

Summer Season Opening

The Museum will be open for the summer every day from 16 April 2017 to 1 October 2017.

Museum Closed

The Museum is now closed until we reopen for the summer in April.


We will be open during Lerwick Up Helly Aa week from Monday 30th January and remain open throughout the week until Saturday 4th February. The opening hours are 11.00 am to 4.00 pm daily. A warm welcome awaits you.

Winter Closing

The museum has closed for the winter. We will be using this closure to upgrade our exhibits for when we reopen in 2017.  

New Exhibits for 2016

Museum volunteers have been busy over the winter months preparing new displays for this season. 2016 Season Dates

The Scalloway Museum will be open this year from Saturday 16th April to Sunday 2nd October. Please Note: We will also be opening for the week of the Up Helly Aa festival in Lerwick, from Saturday 23rd January to Saturday 30th January. We look forward to seeing you!
